Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Matthews.
Amanda Matthews started her Medicare insurance career in 2005 in Kansas City and later transitioned to Colorado Springs as the regional manager for one of the largest Medicare insurance carriers.
Her territory continued to expand over the next nine years, which included the Denver metro. During her time in the corporate world, she was regularly acknowledged as one of the leading managers in the country for a variety of sales products as well as her ability to strategize and innovate.
In 2019, desiring a new challenge, Amanda founded Integrity Insurance. The goal of Integrity is to provide a close-knit, supportive team of agents who exemplify compassion for and true understanding of their members.
In the first year in business, our agency has grown to a team of twenty agents and we have proudly exceeded the goals we established.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Part of my reasoning behind branching out on my own and creating an agency was to have more of a challenge and mental stimulation. It’s been all that and more! I’ve had to learn so many skills and parts of the business that I was previously unfamiliar with.
Much of my job continues to be managing people. Thankfully, I’ve had a decade of experience prior to agency ownership, which proved valuable.
One nice thing is that I can choose who to do business with. The reason that this is so important to me is that I emphasize to agents joining the team that I hold them to a high standard. Ethics, compassion, and knowledge are at the root of our business. We want our members to know and feel that, so it’s key that they agents believe in that mission as well.
Please tell us about Integrity Insurance.
Our #1 business is guiding Medicare beneficiaries in their insurance options, like Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicare Supplement Plans, and Part D Prescription Drug Plans. Additionally, we help people with life insurance, dental and vision insurance, critical illness insurance, and under 65 health insurance.
What sets us apart from others is that we have innovative, go-getters on our team who have an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Medicare is a complex subject, so it’s critical for an agent to possess these qualities. Our agents are also altruistic individuals from volunteering at food pantries to teaching seniors technology to fostering children. They have great hearts and they extend that caring to their members.
I am most proud of the team environment that we’ve created. Shared knowledge creates a win for all of us, and that’s what we are forever seeking – business relationships that create a win-win. It’s the reason we’ve managed to be so successful as a young agency.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I have two younger sisters and a ton of cousins my age, and all of us grew up together in central Kansas. I loved the summers as a kid – exhausting ourselves in the pool for the entire day, dancing in the warm rain, listening to the booming thunderstorms, building forts that the grownups weren’t privy to, running around barefoot in the lush green grass, visiting the library every other day to pick out the next Nancy Drew book… So much freedom and so few adult worries!
